Job Summary
Plan and guide the learning process to help students achieve state standards while maintaining a safe, conducive classroom atmosphere. Interact verbally and physically with students, establish professional relationships, and supervise them throughout the school day. Implement instructional programs that engage students meaningfully, modify resources for diverse learning styles, and communicate regularly with parents using tools like PowerSchool. Assess student performance, maintain records, and collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment. Commit to helping urban students succeed in diverse socioeconomic and racial settings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's degree or higher in secondary or elementary education from an accredited college or university
- Ohio Teacher license appropriate for subject(s) and grade levels taught
- Must be able to verbally & physically interact with students as needed
- Ability to be professional, compassionate, empathetic, and caring dedicated to human growth and development
- Consistently uses technology for the benefit of students' education
- Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
- Maintains licensure requirements and professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities
- Communicates in a second language when applicable
Desired Qualifications
- Work experience with children in a multi-ethnic situation preferred
- Commitment to helping urban students to succeed; with an emphasis on urban schools with diverse socioeconomic levels, racial and ethnic backgrounds
- Willingness to spend the time needed to effectively meet the challenges, objectives, and mission of the CPS district
