Job Summary
Provide primary care services to clients and families within an inter-disciplinary team, emphasizing health promotion and client education under the direction of the Manager of the Baawaating Family Health Team. Deliver culturally safe, holistic health care that supports individual and community wellness while acknowledging Indigenous values and traditions. Maintain efficient operational functions and demonstrate sensitivity to Indigenous cultural contexts. Work independently with limited direction, accept flexible hours including unplanned overtime, and travel frequently to support community-based health care delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree and rotating internship from a recognized university
- License to practice from the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons
- Experience in a primary health care setting
- Valid Ontario Driver's License
- Access to a personal vehicle
- A clear criminal reference check
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge of Indigenous cultural values and traditions
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem resolution skills
- Ability to work independently with limited direction
- A willingness to accept changes in work practices and technology
- Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team
- Ability to work flexible hours including unplanned overtime
- Ability to travel frequently
- Knowledge and interest in health issues affecting Indigenous people
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care and resources
