Job Summary

Plan, coordinate, and implement evidence-based substance use prevention and mental health promotion programs for youth, adults, families, schools, and community organizations. Deliver educational presentations on Mental Health First Aid, suicide prevention, and trauma resilience while facilitating initiatives addressing underage drinking, tobacco use, and opioid misuse. Develop relationships with community partners, conduct retailer store audits, and collect program data into the DBHDS Data System. Work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with some evenings and weekends. The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board provides behavioral health and substance use services to strengthen families in Hampton and Newport News, Virginia.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field, such as Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field
  • At least one year of experience in mental health promotion and group facilitation
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation
  • Must successfully pass a DMV record check
  • Must successfully pass a Child Registry search
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening test
  • Must successfully pass employment reference checks
