Job Summary
The Prevention Coordinator will design and implement prevention activities aligned with grant objectives to support youth and families within the Tribal community, collaborate with the Prevention Supervisor, facilitate school-based prevention groups, develop and maintain afterschool and summer programming, coordinate events and outreach with partners, monitor program effectiveness, and promote YFGC services at community and regional events. Strong emphasis on culturally relevant approaches, collaboration with schools and tribal partners, plus the ability to transport participants, chaperone trips, prepare meals as needed, and perform additional tasks to support program operations.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum of one-year experience working with youth in an identified prevention activity (mentor, athletic coach, big brother/big sister program, etc.)
- Certified Prevention Specialist certification (must obtain within 2 years of hire)
- Certification as a Tribal Traditional Health Worker within two years of hire (Peer Support Specialist/Peer Wellness Specialist/Community Health Worker may be accepted)
- Oregon Food Handlers Permit within 90 days of hire
- Clean and sober lifestyle
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License with good driving record
- Annual TB skin testing and adherence to immunization policy
- BLS certification within 180 days of hire (strongly recommended within 90 days)
- Background and character investigation
- Mandatory Reporter responsibilities per tribal policy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of medical records (HIPAA)
