Job Summary
Examine completed work pieces for defects like chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort them by flaw type. Measure pieces with micrometers, gauges, calipers, and rulers to verify conformance to specifications. Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components such as rams or power presses. Start machines, monitor operations, record data, and perform shop math. Select work from the SAP production schedule and retrieve stock or dies as needed. Perform frequent heavy lifting and direct others when necessary. This role supports small part production with an 8-hour shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm. Fork truck licensing is required, and a precision machining technology degree or three years of recent metal removal machine set-up experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Willing and able to become fork truck licensed
- Experience using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates or rulers to measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications
- Able to interpret shop blueprints/written specs
- Able to interpret MOSs & BOMs
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Precision Machining Technology / equivalent degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years equivalent work experience in metal removal machine set-ups in the last 5 years
- Course of work experience must be within the last 5 years
- Course of program must be of a non-high school level
- Good safety, attendance and performance record
- Has high mechanical aptitude
- Work with minimum supervision
- Communicate effectively
- Work well with others
- Analytical troubleshooting ability
- High degree of safety knowledge in the area
