Job Summary
Set up metal stamping presses and install, align dies, and punches according to work orders and engineering specifications. Perform test runs, adjust machine parameters for required tolerances, and inspect first-piece samples to ensure compliance. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections using calipers and micrometers, document quality checks and machine settings, and track material usage and scrap. Perform basic preventive maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs, while diagnosing issues related to die alignment and feed systems. Follow safety rules regarding lockout/tagout, ensure safety devices function correctly, and report equipment issues or production delays to supervisors.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in metal stamping, machine setup, or a similar manufacturing environment
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and stand for long periods
- Strong attention to detail
- Problem-solving mindset
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with progressive dies, transfer presses, or CNC coil feeders
- Knowledge of die maintenance and tooling adjustments
- Familiarity with ISO or quality management systems
