Job Summary
Press Operator 2 on 3rd shift responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining a printing press. Executes make-ready tasks (hanging plates, installing cylinders, inspecting plates/cylinders for imperfections, preparing blankets, adjusting tension and register), performs color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specs, cleans and maintains the press, conducts periodic maintenance per manufacturer guidelines, and applies micrometer-based plate mounting and alignment. Requires thorough knowledge of offset printing, ability to read job specifications, and skill to perform precise control settings and minor repairs. Shift is Sunday-Thursday 11pm-7am with a $3/hour shift premium; sign-on bonus of $2,000 for new hires. EEO employer.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications
- Ability to read and understand job specifications and knowledge of press capabilities
- Skill to make precise settings of controls and perform routine maintenance
- Knowledge of packing pressure and proper printing pressure for various jobs
- Proficiency with micrometer to mount and align printing plates
- Ability to perform make-ready tasks such as hanging plates or installing cylinders
- Experience in color corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications
- Ability to perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on presses
- Compliance with safety requirements and procedures
