Job Summary

Prepare rolls for printing, ensure ink and printing plates are ready, and assist the Press Operator with changeovers. Keep the area clean, work safely, and obey all safety rules while checking size and basis weight of rolls. Make rolls press ready, dispose of outer wrap and scrap properly, and have cylinders made ready and ink prepped prior to changeover. Keep the press unwind loaded, return ink to the ink room, cut down make-readies and delta scrap, clean printing plates, help the mounter, and communicate effectively with the oncoming shift. Once qualified, instruct and train other Press Helpers. Maintain all work areas, fulfill overtime requirements, assist with shut-down and start-up procedures, and perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to follow verbal or written instructions
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, with or without accommodation
  • Visual acuity and depth perception
  • Ability to work in various temperatures & humidity levels
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs
  • Must be able to carry to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to lower to 30 lbs. from a height of 4 feet
  • Must be able to lift to 85 lbs. to height of 6 feet
  • Must be available for 12 Hour shifts working alternately (36) and (48) hour weeks
  • Must be available for A/B shifts work from 7 am to 7 pm
  • Must be available for C/D shifts work from 7 pm to 7 am
  • Must be able to work within and adhere to GPI's core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
  • Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner
  • Must be actively engaged in safety programs
  • Must be able to ensure production and distribution of products consistent with established food safety, sanitation and quality standards
  • Must be able to check size and basis weight of rolls at the press
  • Must be able to make rolls press ready
  • Must be able to dispose of outer wrap and scrap in proper areas
  • Must be able to assist other Press Helpers, as needed
  • Must be able to have cylinders made ready and ink at the press prior to changeover
  • Must be able to keep the press unwind loaded with paper at all times
  • Must be able to assist Press Operator with changeover, keeping ink and cylinders prepped
  • Must be able to return ink to ink room
  • Must be able to cut down make-readies and delta scrap before the end of the shift
  • Must be able to clean printing plates before returning them to the mounting room
  • Must be able to help mounter in mounting room
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with oncoming shift
  • Must be able to fulfill overtime requirements necessary to ensure production and distribution requirements are met
  • Must be able to assist with all shut-down and start-up procedures
  • Must be able to assist in other areas or perform other duties, as assigned
  • Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor
  • Must be able to follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods
  • Must be able to report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures
  • Must be able to participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required
  • Must be able to follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
  • Must be able to report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation
