Job Summary
Operate Amada, Cincinnati, and Bystronics press brakes to bend parts at angles, manage step bends, and execute proper back gauge transfers per customer specifications. Program machines using all features including delays and interpret blueprints with geometric tolerances to ensure finished parts meet flat pattern layout and sequencing requirements. Perform thorough part inspections, remove defective products, and calculate material gains and losses while maintaining a clean work area. Train less experienced operators, identify process improvements for cost and waste reduction, and manage time to prioritize work efficiently. This skilled role requires moderate to minimal supervision after training and involves standing, walking, and lifting up to 70 pounds in a manufacturing environment. Shift runs M-F 6am to 2pm.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders) or foreign nationals granted refugee or asylee status
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sheet Metal manufacturing experience with Press Brakes
- Knowledge of Sheet Metal in a prototype manufacturing setting or related experience and education
- Full understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerances and how they relate to the finished part
- Thorough understanding of flat pattern layout and sequencing
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
- Must be able to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop or kneel
- Must be able to wear eye protection and safety shoes
- Must be able to work in outside weather conditions
- Must be able to work near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places
- Must be able to be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration
- Must be able to operate Amada, Cincinnati and/or Bystronics Press Brake
- Must be able to Program using all features of the press break, E.g. bending at angles, step bends, proper back gauge transfer between steps, delays, etc.
- Must be able to Perform thorough part inspections and remove defective products
- Must be able to Calculate specific material gains and losses
- Must be able to Ability to train less experienced operators
- Must be able to Work in an efficient and timely manner
- Must be able to Keep work area, including machine surfaces clean at all times
- Must be able to Identify areas for process improvement, cost and waste reduction
- Must be able to Perform other related duties as assigned
- Must have American offset tooling knowledge
- Must be able to Understand how to use adapters to ensure proper height and overall dimensions
- Must be able to Use measuring instruments such as protractors, calipers, height gauges
- Must be able to Interpret and explain written and numerical data
- Must have Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Must be able to Manage time and prioritize work in an effective manner
- Must have Highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skills
