Job Summary
Draft written press materials including news releases, talking points, briefings, and op-eds; Manage interns in daily clips process to monitor news and other tasks; Monitor and flag relevant breaking news to communications team members; Track incoming media inquiries and assist in outreach to news media; Help maintain press lists and distribute materials; Help maintain communications team calendar and work across departments to schedule events and meetings; Help with other assignments and tasks as assigned by the Communications Director.
Required Qualifications
- At least one cycle of experience either as an intern or as full-time staff in political communications or journalism
- Excellent writing skills, including ability to write and edit on deadline
- Extremely well-organized and detailed-oriented while moving in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible, collaborative, creative, and proactive
- Self-starter and willing to take initiative
- Advanced project management skills – including the ability to manage up and juggle multiple projects at the same time
- A strong interest in politics and a commitment to advancing the principles and goals of the nation’s Democratic governors
