Job Summary
Open bags or boxes of donated items and sort clothing, textiles, cardboard, plastics, furniture, and electronics into corresponding department tubs or bins. Conduct initial assessments of each item's condition to determine suitability for sale and ensure accurate documentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the sorting area while following strict safety protocols to prevent accidents. Collaborate with team members to achieve daily sorting targets and assist with other tasks as needed. Work in a fast-paced, noisy environment with bright lighting, standing for extended periods and lifting up to 70 lbs occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs
- Must have the ability to frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
- Must be skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands
- Must be capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces
- Must possess clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced and busy environment
- Must be able to work effectively in a noisy environment
- Must be able to work effectively in a bright environment
- Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have a high degree of flexibility
- Must have the ability to switch tasks or departments based on operational needs
- Must have a fundamental understanding of written and spoken English for comprehending instructions
- Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
Desired Qualifications
- Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back of house experience
- High school diploma or GED
