Job Summary
Process prescription refills and prior authorizations centrally across Ambulatory Practices via EMR work queues. Review patient charts following established standards and protocols to improve provider efficiency. Rectify outstanding prescription protocol requirements and document all processing concisely with accuracy. Communicate directly with patients regarding refill status on a case-by-case basis. Maintain clinical competencies and adhere to infection control policies while supporting coverage within the Covenant Health Ambulatory Practices network.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Certification and registration through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) ~American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Health Career Association (NHA)
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be within commutable distance to one of the Covenant locations if physical onsite work is needed in lieu of remote
- Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years' experience as a Medical Assistant
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work in an independent, fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
- Provides excellent customer service through engaging interpersonal skillsets and excellent written communication
- Proficient in the reading and understanding of electronic health records
- Demonstrates flexibility in assisting with the support and coverage within the Covenant Health Ambulatory Practices network
