Job Summary
Prescribed Fire Practitioner III with North America Fire modules conducts prescribed burns, prepares fire lines, maintains equipment, and monitors post-burn effects on assignments across the United States. The role requires operating ATVs/UTVs, tractors, chainsaws, and related equipment, using mobile mapping/data collection tools (Collector for ArcGIS, Avenza Maps), and maintaining records. Candidates must meet safety standards, pursue ongoing training to advance fire credentials (RXCM/FFT2), and collaborate with federal, state, and local partners while traveling to assignments on a part-time, seasonal basis. The position supports flexible schedules, remote work within the contiguous US, and travel with travel expenses and lodging covered; hourly pay ranges from $25.00 to $28.00 depending on qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to obtain the qualifications for Prescribed Fire Crew Member (RXCM) or Fire Fighter Type 2 (FFT2), including Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fire line (L-180), Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130), and one training burn serving under the supervision of a qualified FFT2 as a requirement for this position.
