Job Summary
The Preschool VPK Teacher is responsible for managing a classroom while ensuring the safety, supervision, and growth of children. Key duties include planning engaging learning environments, maintaining communication with parents, implementing state standards, and ensuring compliance with licensing regulations. Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possess a minimum of one year of relevant experience, and maintain required certifications. Additional qualifications include the ability to work well in a team, creativity in teaching, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience leading a VPK classroom environment.
- Must maintain current training and certifications as required by the YMCA, licensing agencies, funders, and accreditation requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual, English and Spanish (a plus)
- State approved CPR/AED certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire)
- CDA or FCCPC or Higher Education in Early Childhood.
- 10 hours in service training certificate
- VPK FAST Assessment Training
Additional Requirements
- Applicants must be able to provide a current copy of the Dept. of Children and Families training transcript with current VPK credentials.
- Must successfully complete a drug test and Level II fingerprinting background screening.
