Job Summary
Develop and implement differentiated classroom instructional plans based on student IEPs and Creative Curriculum objectives. Create and modify materials to meet individual needs, while developing and coordinating individual and classroom behavior plans to manage discipline and monitor progress. Lead teacher assistants in non-instructional duties and model Pyramid Model principles to build social-emotional competence. Establish parent partnerships and coordinate safety protocols for incidents, including reporting abuse and violence. This role requires NYS certification in Early Childhood Special Education and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or subject area
- NYS certification in Early Childhood Special Education Birth - 2nd grade, or enrollment in a program that leads to NYS teacher certification
- Ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 3-5
- Ability to lift and carry children, equipment, and materials up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to respond quickly to behavioral, medical, and safety emergencies
- Ability to assist with mobility, positioning, toileting, and transfers
- Ability to implement approved behavioral intervention strategies
- Ability to actively supervise young children with developmental and behavioral needs in classroom, therapeutic, and playground settings
- Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, carrying, and floor-based activities
- Ability to work onsite
