Job Summary
Supervise and implement the preschool program for children ages two to five, maintaining a neat, orderly classroom environment that respects individual cultural backgrounds and learning styles. Manage daily operations including housekeeping, playground supervision, and public relations events such as Back to School Night and school fundraisers. Communicate regularly with parents via Class Dojo, return messages within 24 hours, and assist in ongoing child development evaluations. Report voice-mail and email promptly, complete assigned administrative tasks, and participate in recommended training programs for professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic
- Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy
- California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit (12 ECE units) or higher
- Fingerprint and CMG Background Clearance
- CPR and First Aid
- Cleared TB test
- Experience teaching OR desire to teach and models Catholic values
- Passion to work with young children and desire to grow as an educator
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for teaching
- Ability to spend the majority of the day standing in the classroom
- Ability to sit on an occasional basis when developing lesson plans, grading, etc.
- Ability to walk through the classroom and maneuver in tight spaces between desks
- Ability to walk on both even and uneven surfaces
- Ability to deal with students while kneeling or squatting, stooping, or bending
- Ability to reach at, below, or above shoulder height with the dominant upper extremity
- Ability to assist in moving children's desks and chairs to change the layout of the classroom
- Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to be mobile to, from, and within the classroom and preschool environment
- Ability to maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events
- Ability to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend trainings or workshops
- Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand
- Ability to understand the speech of another person
- Ability to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
- Ability to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
- Ability to see details of objects whether they are nearby or far away
- Unimpaired or corrected vision/hearing
