Job Summary
The Intervention Specialist designs and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within a school setting, ensuring compliance with special education laws and equitable learning opportunities for students with disabilities. Works under the principal’s direction with classroom teachers to address student needs, teach IEP provisions, monitor progress, differentiate instruction, collaborate with families and staff, and maintain accurate records. Responsibilities include planning instruction aligned with Ohio standards, using varied assessments to monitor progress, and participating in professional communities to support student learning and school goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in teaching field
- Knowledge of state and local curriculum standards
- Knowledge of state professional development standards
- Certified by the Ohio Department of Education
- HQT preferred
- Communication Skills: reading, analysis, and effective communication (oral and written)
- Leadership Ability: vision and management
- Mathematics Skills: basic computations
- Reasoning Ability: problem solving and data-driven conclusions
- Technology Skills: office applications and common software
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, adaptability, professional demeanor and confidentiality
- Familiarity with Ohio academic content standards
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, students and families
- Experience implementing IEP goals and providing instruction for students with disabilities
