Job Summary
Oversee the classroom curriculum program by instructing preschool-aged children using the Zoo-phonics curriculum and preparing age-appropriate lesson plans. Maintain a welcoming and safe learning environment while keeping the classroom clean, neat, and organized per company policies. Coach the assistant teacher with clear instructions and establish positive relationships with students and parents through regular progress updates and empathetic concern resolution. Comply with all licensing rules, attend monthly trainings and staff meetings after hours, and report to the Center Director or Assistant Director as needed. This role involves working with infants through school age, potentially caring for class pets, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- At least 12 Early Childhood Education units, must include: Early Child Development; Child, Family & Community; Infant & Toddler; and any other Child Development class (i.e. Program & Curriculum, Child Health & Safety, etc.)
- At least 2 years experience as a preschool teacher
- Passionate about working with children (infants through school age) and has a positive and patient demeanor.
- Must be able to work as part of a team and get along with various personalities.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; able to sit on the floor and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Able to work occasional overtime if needed and attend scheduled staff meetings after hours.
Desired Qualifications
- Willing to learn software applications and is adaptable to change.
- Experience with DRDP a plus
