Job Summary
Preschool Teacher responsible for instruction, supervision, and provision of appropriate learning activities for Head Start children in an extended-day/year classroom; deliver comprehensive educational services to all Head Start children including those with IEPs, behavioral or health plans and English language learners; work as part of a team with Teaching Assistant, Center Manager and classroom staff; 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with some evenings for parent meetings; front-line, face-to-face work with children and families; requires use of own vehicle for business; positions 183 days/year with a schedule of 6.5 hours/day Mon-Thu and 4.5 hours on Friday; duties align with Head Start Performance Standards and school readiness goals; bilingual Spanish-speaking is desirable; not eligible for telecommuting.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from a recognized institution
- Associates degree in: Child Development or Early Childhood Education (ECE) Or a related field (as determined by the agency) with equivalent coursework (to a major relating to ECE and experience teaching preschool children) as follows: 3 qualified classes in ECE with 3 years experience teaching preschool children
- 4 qualified classes in ECE with 2 years experience teaching preschool children
- 5 qualified classes in ECE with 1 years experience teaching preschool children
- Official or unofficial transcript which shows the award or confer date of the degree must be attached to the employment application.
