Job Summary
The Preschool Teacher (CDA) creates a stimulating and nurturing environment that promotes children's language, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Responsibilities include implementing a culturally sensitive educational program, assisting with daily lesson plans, interacting purposefully with children during play, maintaining safety and hygiene standards, and fostering relationships with families. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent, along with specific early childhood education qualifications, which include a CDA credential or similar certification. Essential skills include effective communication, classroom management, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse families and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- DCF 45-hour training
- CDA credential or state-awarded certificate that meets CDA requirements or an associate/baccalaureate degree in ECE or related field within 2 years of hire
- Current TB screening & physical before contact with children
- Current First Aid and Pediatric CPR training
- Complete online Food Handlers Course within 90 days of employment
- Minimum of 25 hours of in-service training annually
