Job Summary
Collaborate with the teacher to maintain a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment while supervising children indoors and outdoors using positive guidance techniques. Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, inventory of materials, and implementation of individualized curriculum and daily activities. Support observations, assessments, and documentation of children's portfolios, and communicate regularly regarding health, behavior, and development. Engage families through newsletters, conferences, and home visits, while promoting healthy practices related to nutrition and wellness. Maintain confidentiality, follow safety policies, and participate in staff meetings and professional development. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria
- Oregon Registry Step less than 8
- Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate within 6 months from date of hire
- One year Oregon community college certificate in field with training or coursework in early childhood development WITH a focus on preschool development within 1 year from date of hire
- Enrolled in an associate's or bachelor's program in early childhood education or child development to be completed within 2 years from date of hire
- Associate's degree or higher in Early childhood education or child development
- Associate's degree or higher in Any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education or child development WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on preschooler development and/or education
