Job Summary
Assist the classroom teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials, creating and modifying instructional materials to match student abilities, and working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning. Monitor student behavior, help maintain discipline, record data, assist with crisis prevention, and implement behavior plans. Supervise and assist students during non-instructional periods including lunch, recess, bus loading, and field trips to maintain a safe environment. Collaborate with staff to incorporate information from parents and therapists, administer assessments, and perform clerical duties such as filing incident reports and maintaining student files. Attend mandatory training sessions for first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- NYS Education Teacher Assistant Certification
- Ability to work with students who demonstrate serious emotional and behavioral challenges, ages 3-5
- Ability to lift and carry children, equipment, and materials up to 35 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree preferred
