Job Summary
Provide Preschool Special Education expertise to support local education agencies in implementing IDEA B 619 services for preschoolers with disabilities. Responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, delivering professional development and coaching, providing technical assistance, and guiding agencies through monitoring processes, transition planning, and compliance with IDEA and state standards. Engage in regular input on policies, attend quarterly in-person and virtual meetings, and support agencies in improving preschool environments, outcomes, and transitions. Remain compliant with DCY policies, participate in required training, and ensure licensure/certification is current. This role emphasizes leadership by influence, collaborative teamwork in multidisciplinary settings, and data-informed decision making for preschool special education services.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in special education or in one of the related service areas with licensure in special education
- At least 3 years of relevant experience providing support and/or services to preschool-age children with disabilities in roles such as administrator/supervisor, professional development provider, technical assistance provider, or teacher mentor
- Experience in providing support and technical assistance with IDEA Compliance Monitoring
- Knowledge of IDEA requirements (Least Restrictive Environment, Itinerant Services, Child Outcomes Summary, Part C to B transition, ETR/IEP processes, Play Based Assessment, inclusive classroom strategies, Ohio Operating Standards for Children with Disabilities)
- Proficiency in communication, collaboration, empathy, conflict resolution, active listening, adaptability, leadership and data analysis
- Experience delivering professional development and coaching to preschool supervisors and educational agencies
- Ability to provide input on special education rules, guidance, resources, trainings, and projects
- Experience with Preschool IDEA Monitoring Process and transition planning
- Ability to conduct needs assessments and provide targeted supports in areas such as Indicator 6, 7, 12, and related preschool indicators
- Commitment to adherence to IDEA and state regulations for preschool special education programs
