Job Summary
Assist certified staff in the classroom to meet instructional goals by reinforcing basic learning, administering assessments, and managing behavioral disruptions. Support students individually and in small groups while overseeing non-instructional areas such as lunch programs, bus duty, and playground supervision. Accompany students on field trips, assist with parent contact, and help students with special needs achieve IEP objectives. Construct and distribute educational materials, maintain record-keeping procedures, and participate in the IEP process as needed. Follow all safety rules and regulations governing assistance for students with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- paraeducator certification
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required
- Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities
