Job Summary
Provide classroom leadership for children aged 3 months to 5 years (up to 12 if supporting school age), ensuring constant supervision and maintaining a safe, clean environment compliant with California and Head Start standards. Prepare lesson plans incorporating early STEM, literacy, and social-emotional strategies while mentoring staff and overseeing curriculum fidelity. Document child observations, incident reports, and DRDP data to support data-driven planning and family engagement through conferences and home visits. Participate in 21 hours of professional development and annual training while collaborating with specialists to address individualized needs. Maintain daily health checks and follow sanitation guidelines, ensuring all licensing regulations and performance standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- Master Teacher permit issued by CTC
- Minimum of 24 ECE/CD units with three units in Infant/toddler development if working with that specific age group
- 16 general education units
- 6+ adult supervision units
- 350 days of experience
- BA degree in Child Development, ECE or closely related field
- Work towards Master Teacher or higher Permit (or eligible to obtain one)
- Current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to pass background checks, TB tests, and meet immunization requirements
- Reach a child twenty-five feet away within 10 seconds or less
- Hear a child call for help from at least fifty feet away
- Comprehend and react to dangerous situations involving children without hesitation
- Crouch/bend to a child's height and maintain eye contact
- Reach children on the highest piece of play equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Engage in floor/sitting at ground level play with children for extended periods of time
- Prior to first day of employment, must have fingerprint clearance and maintain clearance
- Verification to legally work in the US and updated as required
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred but not required one-3-4 years of experience working with children in a licensed childcare facility
- Site Supervisor permit a plus
- Bilingual skills desired (English/Spanish)
