Job Summary
Preschool Integrated Classroom Para Educator position (6.5 hours) in Davenport, IA. Split assignment between General Education and Special Education with duties including providing services to students with moderate to severe behavior disabilities and autism, assisting with daily activities, monitoring progress, and collaborating with teachers. Requirements include CDA Certificate or AA Degree in Early Childhood (or Iowa Paraprofessional Certificate within two years), background checks (Medicaid Fraud screening), DHS training, CPR/First Aid within six months, and adherence to NAEYC/QPPS/Head Start standards. Part-time role with two openings; salary at entry level: $16.39/hr Gen Ed and $16.00/hr Special Ed, plus differential pay (Special Ed $4 extra). Possible therapy dog on site; willingness to work flexible hours. Proficiency in building rapport with diverse students and families and maintaining records is expected.
Required Qualifications
- CDA Certificate OR AA Degree or higher in Early Childhood OR successfully complete the Iowa Paraprofessional classes and obtain the Iowa Paraprofessional Certificate within two years of hire date.
- Background check and fingerprinting per DHS guidelines
- CPR and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire and current
- DHS Training hours annually
- NAEYC, QPPS, DHS and Head Start Performance Standards
- Must complete DHS Essentials training within 90 days of hire
- Experience with behavior and development support for students with ASD or similar disabilities
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and diapering willingness
- Flexible hours to meet operational needs of early learning center
- Positive attitude toward special needs children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Team collaboration with general and special education staff
- Model implementation of multi-tiered supports for behavior and academics
- Possession of or willingness to obtain required certificates and licenses
