Job Summary
Cooks prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for children while helping create a joyful, safe, and thriving environment. They follow state nutritional requirements, plan and post approved menus with substitutions as needed, manage inventory and food orders within the center budget, and serve meals at appropriate temperatures. They maintain food safety, sanitation, and CACFP records, collaborate with team members, engage with families, and assist in classrooms as needed to support children’s development and happiness.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- ECE coursework preferred
- Must meet state-specific guidelines for the role
- Possess a valid food service/handler’s permit or license as required by state/local regulations
- Experience in a licensed childcare facility kitchen, commercial kitchen, public school cafeteria, or equivalent
- Age at least 18 years old
- Health & safety requirements including immunizations, physicals, and training as per state/federal regulations
