Job Summary
Conduct professional behavior management for preschool children, including in-home follow-up, classroom observations twice annually, and crisis intervention when necessary. Develop and monitor individualized behavior support plans while providing coaching to teachers on the Trust-Based Relational Intervention Model and parenting skills. Manage case referrals to mental health and psycho-educational providers, ensuring consistency between home and school environments. Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, quality assurance efforts, and required workshops under the supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols, including active supervision of assigned children and reporting of suspected abuse.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in educational psychology, mental health counseling, special education, social work, or other related human services degree
- Must be able to lift at least 45 lbs
- Minimum of one year of experience in mental health services for children
- Experience working with pre-school age children with mental or behavioral disabilities
- Experience implementing Behavior Support Plans for pre-school children
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Successful completion of a Level II background screening
- Successful completion of a local criminal record check
- Successful completion of a drug screening
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques for the classroom
- Knowledge of child developmental stages
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse parents, staff and community residents
- Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of mental health and psycho-educational services
- Understanding of low-income families, cultural differences and group dynamics
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff, mental health providers and community agencies
- Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to meet designated deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Bilingual: English/Spanish or English and other languages present in the local area
- Willingness to complete Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner and Play Therapy certification training within two years of hire
