Job Summary
Preschool Assistant Teacher will support the lead teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children. Responsibilities include assisting in planning, delivering, and documenting age-appropriate educational activities, maintaining classroom order, assessing student progress, assisting with mealtime and nap-time, promoting safety and positive behavior, communicating with students, teachers, and parents, and ensuring confidentiality and adherence to DHS licensing and NAEYC standards. The role requires collaboration with staff to maintain a clean, organized classroom, uphold school policies, and manage supplies and resources. CPR/First Aid certification and ability to lift up to 35 lbs are required.
Required Qualifications
- Meet State of Hawaii Department of Human Services (DHS) qualification standards for Assistant Teacher
- Has an early childhood education CDA or 2 years college and six months experience with preschool ages and 9 units Early Childhood Education
- Must meet state licensing requirements (Medical, TB, and criminal history clearance)
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
