Job Summary
Preschool Assistant Teacher for SCCDC's 2026-2027 program year. Work with Head Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate classroom experiences aligned with the agency curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards; assist with day-to-day activities supporting the physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development of each child. Implement practices from the Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Competence; establish nurturing relationships with children and parents; participate in planning, home visits, and parent conferences; assume lead classroom duties in Head Teacher's absence; support school readiness goals and data-driven planning through weekly lesson plans and ongoing assessments. Requires CDA (or plan to obtain CDA within two years if starting with HS diploma), OCFS clearance, health and safety certifications, and a NYS driver's license. Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Current Preschool CDA (Child Development Associate) and experience working with preschool children in a classroom setting; or High School Diploma and related experience with a plan to obtain a CDA required within two years of hire
- Three letters of reference
- OCFS Clearance
- Current Physical with Tuberculin Test
- valid NYS Driver's License
