Job Summary
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care and development of preschool children, planning and implementing curriculum according to Head Start Performance Standards. Duties include collaborating with the Lead Teacher on educational strategies, ensuring a safe and enriching learning environment, supervising outdoor activities, and promoting social-emotional growth among children. The role requires strong communication with families, participation in meetings, and adherence to health and safety standards. Candidates need an Associate's Degree with relevant experience in early childhood education.
Required Qualifications
- 24 ECE core units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education with a California Child Development Teacher Permit or higher
- At least one (1) year of experience working with children in a preschool classroom setting
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to maintain highest levels of Health, Safety & Supervision of children
Additional Requirements
- Annual Physical exam and TB Clearance
- Criminal Background Clearance
- Child Abuse Index Clearance
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid
- Adherence to the Confidentiality Agreement
- Adherence to the Child Abuse Reporting Mandate
- COVID-19 vaccination requirement or weekly Negative COVID-19 test result
