Job Summary
Assistant Director role at Kïdo River North in Chicago, IL, responsible for daily leadership of the school, supporting teaching teams through training and mentorship, ensuring safe, engaging classrooms aligned with Kïdo’s educational philosophy, and partnering with leadership on enrollment and family engagement. Key responsibilities include curriculum implementation support, classroom quality, child outcomes, compliance with Illinois DCFS licensing requirements, staffing, onboarding, and daily school operations, plus a focus on continuous improvement and embodying Kïdo values. Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field meeting Part 407 Director qualifications and at least 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed preschool or child care setting, with demonstrated DCFS knowledge and strong coaching and communication skills; Director Qualification is required or to be attained. Bilingual English/Spanish and experience with Reggio Emilia, Montessori, or inquiry-based approaches are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or a closely related field that meets Illinois Director Qualification requirements under Part 407
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a licensed preschool or child care center serving children birth through age 5
- Leadership experience must have been in a role such as Center Director, Assistant Director, Program Director, Site Director, or other equivalent child care leadership position with responsibility for staff supervision and program oversight
- Demonstrated knowledge of Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards (Part 407)
- Experience supervising, coaching, and developing early childhood educators
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Director Qualified under Illinois DCFS Licensing Standards
