Job Summary
Assist the Preschool Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher in implementing daily curriculum and supervising children during all activities. Contribute to activity preparation, room maintenance, and equipment upkeep while adhering to YMCA core values. Participate in program activities, staff meetings, and trainings, and follow all policies including Child Abuse Prevention. Lead and engage in physical activities such as running, throwing, kicking, and swimming. Work until 5pm M-F, 10-30 hours weekly, with CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.
Required Qualifications
- Meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher Aide qualifications, including yearly in service requirements.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse prevention training, and Shaken Baby Certificate.
- Strong commitment to quality child care.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Never been convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse
- Able to work until 5pm M-F
- Able to work 10-30hrs a week
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
- Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
- The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.
