Job Summary
Preschool Aide supports the teacher to insure the best possible learning experience for preschool age children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality. Duties include assisting the classroom under the supervision of the teacher (crafts, games, stories, lunchtime, etc.), helping plan and organize daily events, assisting children who are not toilet trained, monitoring the playground, and communicating with community, staff, and students. Requires high school diploma or equivalent and CPR/First Aid certification per State requirements; 12 hours of early childhood development classes; previous experience with children and knowledge of school policies and safety regulations are preferred. Schedule is 6:30am–12:30pm, Monday–Friday; 6 hours per day; part-time role in Macomb, Michigan.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR/First Aid certification yearly per State requirement
- 12 hours of early childhood development classes
- Experience working with children’s groups and/or training in early childhood development or childcare, preferred
- Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required
- Skills: Good communication skills, required
- Abilities: Caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required
- Abilities: Relate to children with special needs, required
- Abilities: Read and interpret school policies and handbook, required
- Abilities: Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required
- Abilities: Communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required
- Abilities: Read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job duties, including safety instructions, emergency responses, documentation, and interaction with staff, students, community and supervisors, required
