Job Summary
Contract PrePress and Print Production Contractor for the Cal Alumni Association’s Fall 2026 California magazine issue. Manages preflight/prepress processes for ads, inserts, and editorial content; creates template-based layouts for back-of-book pages; produces InDesign files; organizes folders on Google Drive; creates maps for each issue; assesses word count; circulates final layouts and proofs to the Design Director and editorial team; edits InDesign files and maintains server-stored assets; uploads press-ready PDFs and web-ready content; assists with image research; collaborates with marketing and production partners; ensures deliverables meet design standards and deadlines; requires 2+ years of print production experience, proficiency in InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop/Acrobat, and flexibility to work evenings/weekends during production; remote work is possible within the United States; paid at a fixed fee of $5,000 per issue; contract duration covers two months of production leading up to August press with potential quarterly renewal.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years print production experience, preferably for a magazine
- Strong understanding of prepress and print industry standards
- Software fluency in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Must have flexibility to permit occasional evening and weekend commitments during print production
