Preparation Technician, Jr. at SGS handles proper preparation of mineral samples (e.g., coal, iron ore, limestone, petroleum coke) for analysis, including crushing to published standards, labeling and transferring samples, routine equipment maintenance, data recording, PPE compliance, and adherence to safety procedures. The role may include Field Operation or Laboratory duties as needed, with supervision and a strong focus on following internal standards, procedures, and safety rules. Requires HS or equivalent and the ability to work in an industrial/lab setting with basic English skills; a valid driver’s license and TWIC are required. Expected schedule is fixed daytime shifts with occasional overtime. Compensation is $20-$21 per hour (annualized to $41,600–$43,680), plus benefits including health, 401(k), training, paid time off and family leave.
