Job Summary
Prep Cook at Siena Tavern responsible for following the Chef's prep list, labeling and stocking ingredients, measuring ingredients and seasonings, preparing ingredients (washing/chopping vegetables, cutting meat), undertaking basic cooking duties (reducing sauces, parboiling), assisting in preparing simple dishes (salads, entrees), maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen, complying with health regulations, and performing other kitchen duties as assigned. Strong multi-tasking, accuracy, speed, and a collaborative team approach are required; shifts include a variety of days, nights, weekends, and holidays in a fine-dining/high-volume setting.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years restaurant experience in kitchen (any form); experience in fine dining or high-volume setting preferred
- Degree from a food service program, culinary school or equivalent preferred
- Non-expired Food Handlers Certification required
- Knowledge of local health department requirements for safe food handling and sanitation standards
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to move, bend, lift, carry, push, and place objects weighing up to 40 pounds; stand or walk for extended periods
