Job Summary
Prep Cook assists line cooks in preparing dishes, setting up kitchen, assembling plates, and maintaining cleanliness; duties include following recipes and procedures, preparing/portioning ingredients, presenting dishes to standards, ensuring ingredient quality and proper storage, supporting during service, inventory counts, waste minimization, and safe use of kitchen equipment; requires formal culinary training or relevant on-the-job experience, strong teamwork, organization, bilingual French/English, and a flexible schedule; Ottawa, ON location; in-person work; hourly pay; benefits include insurance, RRSP/DPSP, employee discounts.
Required Qualifications
- Formal culinary training (1- or 2-year college or culinary school program) OR on the job experience at restaurants with comparable culinary operations
- Strong interest in teamwork
- Thoroughness
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good sense of organization
- Good communication skills, in French and English, both orally and in writing
- Flexible schedule with availability on evenings, weekends and holidays
- Valid work permit required
