Job Summary
The Prep Cook operates under the executive chef to handle food preparation tasks that support line cooks in producing meals. Responsibilities include chopping vegetables, breaking down stations, cutting meat, weighing and mixing ingredients, washing and preparing vegetables, storing food properly, and clearly labeling/dating prepped items for later use. Must follow directions in food prep, understand recipes in English, and maintain clear communication with coworkers. Requires basic math and written communication skills, ability to stand for long shifts, and tolerance for hot/cold work conditions. Education/experience notes include high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), with a culinary degree (2- or 4-year) preferred but not required, and 1–2 years in food service/hospitality; local regulations may require a food handler's card.
