Job Summary
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, portioning, and organizing food products according to standardized recipes and production schedules. Set up, stock, organize, and break down assigned kitchen workstations to support efficient service. Maintain proper food rotation, labeling, storage, cooling, and temperature controls while following all food safety guidelines. Keep kitchen workstations, storage areas, equipment, utensils, floors, and food preparation areas clean, organized, and sanitized throughout every shift. Safely operate kitchen equipment and use knives, mixers, slicers, food processors, and other culinary tools according to established procedures. Support Line Cooks, Sous Chefs, and Culinary leadership by ensuring ingredients are prepared and available for service. Monitor food quality and freshness while minimizing waste and supporting food cost initiatives. Communicate maintenance concerns, supply needs, and operational issues promptly to Culinary leadership. Work collaboratively with fellow Culinary team members to maintain an efficient, organized, and guest-focused kitchen. Respond professionally to requests while maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, and move safely throughout kitchen and storage areas
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds or more, including food products, equipment, carts, pans, and supplies
- Ability to safely operate knives, mixers, slicers, food processors, and other commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including hot kitchen environments, steam, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers
- Ability to perform repetitive food preparation tasks while maintaining quality, safety, and attention to detail
- Ability to work safely around sharp equipment, open flames, hot surfaces, and commercial cooking equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs
- Food Handler Certification or ServSafe Certification, where required by law
Desired Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, food preparation, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, knife skills, and safe kitchen practices
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, temperature controls, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and written instructions
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative Culinary team
- Ability to maintain food quality and consistency in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills
