Job Summary

Monitor compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations while preparing food according to established menus and baking. Maintain food and equipment inventories and ensure a clean, safe workspace through general cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas. Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment as needed. Carry out other duties as assigned, including catering operations during the summer break. Work part-time, 30-32 hours per week, split shifts and weekends as needed. Possess AK Food certification and knife skills with knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and food presentation.

Required Qualifications

  • AK Food certification/ food handlers' card
  • knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and serving of food
  • knife skills with the ability to prep food quickly and efficiently
  • knowledge of catering operations, garnishes, and food presentation
  • good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • ability to listen to and understand the information being presented and follow written instructions
  • Detail-oriented, with high accuracy and skill in all work performed
  • ability to keep hands and arms steady when necessary and move quickly
  • ability to understand and maintain the confidentiality of all information seen or heard
