Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate peri-operative patient care in the Ambulatory Surgical Center under physician orders and nursing supervision. Direct ancillary personnel in planning and monitoring pre- and post-operative clinical areas while demonstrating clinical competence across the age continuum. Initiate physical and psycho-social assessments, obtain informed consent, and complete pre-operative interviews and diagnostic test coordination. Document post-anesthesia records, verify discharge criteria, and provide post-operative instructions. Communicate status changes to physicians, families, and staff; participate in service recovery by correcting problems and keeping customers informed. Review daily schedules to prepare patient care areas based on procedure types and specific needs.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Graduate of approved school of professional nursing
- Current and valid licensure with State Board of Nursing
- Minimum of two years of experience in ICU/Emergency Room/Recovery Room or other critical care nursing environment
- Knowledge of State, Federal and Accrediting Body regulations and standards related to healthcare
- Ability to achieve CPR, ACLS, PALS certification within 60 days of employment
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
- Minimum one year in pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative surgical patient care
