Job Summary
Conduct academic assistance by giving group and individualized instruction, checking student work, and reinforcing achievement. Prepare classroom materials, serve as a proctor during testing, and monitor student behavior across the classroom, hallways, and playgrounds. Reconcile minor conflicts, report discipline issues, and enter data on attendance and behavior into health records. Drive or monitor school buses as required by the principal while maintaining appropriate state certification. Check and correct student work while keeping them on task, and participate in developing discipline policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children
- Ability to solve minor problems
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions
- Qualify under the NCDHHS North Carolina Child Care Act, N.C.G.S; 110-90.2 (Federal Background check/Finger printing process)
- Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion
