Job Summary
Preconstruction Sitework Estimator for Wharton-Smith, Inc. at the Sanford, FL corporate office. Responsibilities include reading drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports; performing quantity take-offs; calculating labor and equipment costs for self-performed work; identifying risks such as utility conflicts and dewatering; soliciting subcontractor/supplier participation; developing vendor relationships; scope analysis and identifying deficiencies; supporting projects ranging from $4M to $400M with hard deadlines; attending pre-bid meetings; writing RFIs with clarifications and assumptions.
Required Qualifications
- 3-4 years of sitework estimating or similar field experience
- Previous experience with hard bid Municipal utility projects is a plus
- Ability to understand construction terminology
- Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills are required
- Computer proficiency in MS Office, Planswift/OST take-off programs and ability to learn internal estimating software are required
- Valid Driver License and ability to commute to job sites
