Job Summary
Preconstruction Manager oversees the preconstruction phase for industrial projects in the Southeast, leading development and implementation of preconstruction strategies, feasibility studies, budgeting, and scheduling. Responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets, monitoring preconstruction expenses, and serving as primary client contact during preconstruction. Coordinates with architects, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive project plans, identifies risks and develops mitigation strategies, and maintains accurate project documentation. Oversees and mentors the preconstruction team to ensure professional growth and high performance. Requires strong technical proficiency in construction methods, materials, and relevant codes; analytical skills for interpreting drawings and specifications; negotiation skills for contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors; and advanced software proficiency (HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project). Preferred skills include civil, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and electrical construction expertise. Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering and at least 5 years of preconstruction leadership experience are required. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in preconstruction management, preferably in the industrial services sector
- Strong understanding of construction processes, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation
