Job Summary
Lead all preconstruction activities for assigned projects and programs, including developing conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction estimates. Establish pricing strategies to support project competitiveness and profitability while collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Analyze drawings, specifications, schedules, and project requirements to prepare comprehensive cost estimates, manage subcontractor and vendor solicitation, and evaluate bids. Identify project risks, cost drivers, and value engineering opportunities to ensure seamless transitions with operations, project management, and executive leadership. Support project pursuits, proposals, presentations, and client interviews while maintaining knowledge of market conditions, labor trends, and industry best practices. Requires 3–10 years of preconstruction and estimating experience with exposure to data centers, healthcare facilities, and financial institutions. Based in Birmingham, AL, with a base salary of $140,000–$170,000 and performance-based bonus.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–10 years of relevant preconstruction and estimating experience within the construction industry
- Proven experience preparing and managing estimates for commercial construction projects
- Experience with project types including: Data Centers, Healthcare Facilities, Banking/Financial Institutions, Commercial Construction Projects
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement
- Must be in or able to relocate to the Birmingham area
Desired Qualifications
- Construction-related degree preferred but not required
- Equivalent industry experience will be strongly considered
