Job Summary
Preconstruction & Business Development Manager needed to lead the estimating and preconstruction function for Spriggs Excavation. This executive role oversees the preconstruction department, cultivates client relationships, and drives long-term growth through innovative bid strategies. Key duties include leading and mentoring the preconstruction team, budgeting, estimating, constructability reviews, value engineering, subcontractor engagement, and ensuring bid competitiveness; representing the company in pre-bid meetings and client engagements; driving sales by leveraging technical knowledge and market insight; collaborating with project management to ensure smooth transition from preconstruction to execution; and contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting for pipeline growth.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience preferred with a strong background in estimating and preconstruction
- 5 years of proven success in business development or sales in construction, civil engineering, or renewable energy industries
- Proven leadership experience managing teams with a focus on mentorship and professional growth
- Strong business development acumen and ability to confidently represent the company in client-facing settings
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness and ability to travel for client meetings, site visits, and industry events
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
