Precision Maintenance Machinist (CNC/Conventional)

Job Summary
Review requisitions and blueprints to select stock, set machine feeds and speeds, and execute cutting, drilling, tapping, and milling operations on both conventional and CNC equipment. Rebuild spare parts for internal departments and repair maintenance components while verifying tolerances with precision instruments like micrometers and dial indicators. Mentor newer machinists on lathe operation and measurement techniques, then collaborate with Engineering and Group Leaders to troubleshoot line-critical repairs and adjust schedules to keep production moving. Document all work for maintenance records and report safety hazards immediately.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Working knowledge of machining and grinding practices, including feed rates, sequencing, and cutting speeds
- Experience setting up machine tools to produce precision parts
- Ability to write and modify machine programs
- Strong applied math for dimensions, speeds, and feeds
- Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and related gauges
- Excellent attendance and reliability
- Mechanical aptitude, organized communication, and teamwork
- Self-motivated, safety- and quality-focused; works with minimal supervision
- Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally
- May operate hoists, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other basic shop equipment
- Able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform at heights up to 50 feet
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Continuous-learning mindset to grow technical skills
- Ability to understand and interpret job-related specifications and procedures
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as required
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts
