Job Summary

Operate diamond flycut machines to machine Plano and cylinder mirrors and lens components to engineering specifications, controlling and verifying part thickness and figure while maintaining proper handling to prevent damage. Perform tool set-up for various materials, balance flywheels, and adjust head tilts according to established procedures, ensuring operators verify all setups to prevent machine crashes. Document critical dimensions, process notes, and first-time yield data on work order report sheets, reporting errors, accidents, and maintenance anomalies immediately to supervisors. Maintain a clean, organized environment and adhere to all Coherent safety, EHS, and ITAR compliance protocols, including ISO standards where applicable. On-call rotation applies; U.S. citizenship or protected status required due to ITAR.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • 0-2 years' manufacturing experience
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)
  • Well-developed communication and organizational skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to handle diverse detailed tasks
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to daily work requirements
  • Ability to read drawings and engineering notes
  • Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated
  • Competent math skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Long periods of standing
  • High degree of concentration
  • Working with chemicals, cleaning solvents, toxic and hazardous materials
  • All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards

Desired Qualifications

  • Develop a good understanding for the QA procedures associated with testing of flycut diamond turned components
  • Opportunities to multitask and run multiple machines to ensure maximum production output without making errors
  • Errors and accidents are reported immediately to the shift lead, maintenance supervisor, or engineers. Root cause analysis and corrective actions are fully supported
  • Operators are required to verify all setups to ensure the machine will not crash
  • Ensure equipment is maintained based on preventative schedules
  • Maintenance requirements and machine or utility anomalies are reported promptly to the supervisor
  • Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System
  • Ensure adherence to company's values (ICARE) in all aspects of your position at Coherent Corp.
