Job Summary
Capture surgical procedures for assigned physicians and verify patient benefits prior to the procedure date. Obtain all necessary pre-authorizations, pre-determinations, and pre-surgery deposits while identifying missing medical necessity requirements. Work timely on retro authorizations and ER cases to ensure all procedures are pre-authorized within allotted timeframes. Document contact outcomes with insurance carriers, calculate patient financial responsibility, and collect deposits. Communicate authorization status to patients, providers, and facility staff to prevent rescheduling. Submit non-payment letters and maintain records in Florida Orthopaedic Institute programs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 1 year experience in a medical environment
- previous experience in medical insurance verification and pre-authorizations
- proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- critical thinking and problem solving skills
- good judgement, tact, and diplomacy
- ability to problem solve
- ability to work effectively in a team environment
- excellent organizational skills
- knowledge of some medical terminology and procedures
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
